11-Year-Old Boy Slaughtered By A Hit-and-Run,Driver Sentenced

A man has been sentenced for causing the death of an 11-year-old boy Shahzaib Hussain as a result of reckless driving. Henry Barker, 20 drove the Mercedes that slaughtered the lad as he walked home from afternoon prayers in Tameside. It was a hit and run scenario.
Barker, of Hampton Road in Failsworth, Oldham , debunked causing death by reckless driving though he was found guilty by a unanimous verdict of the jury after a trial at Manchester’s Minshull Street Crown Court.
Shahzaib, a pupil at St Peter’s CE Primary School in Ashton, was hit by Barker’s speeding car just seconds after he left the mosque on Moss Street West, a narrow back street running alongside the mosque.
It was disclosed to the jury that Barker was driving at more than twice the speed limit and fled from the scene after the collision. Speeds of up to 45mph were estimated, with one witness describing how shortly before the collision, he had witnessed Barker ‘swerving’ to avoid parked cars.
