Security Guard Arraigned For Stealing Condoms


Adamu Asaph, 27 a security guard, was docked in a Karmo Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja on Tuesday, for allegedly stealing two packets of condom.

The suspect was arraigned on a one-count-charge bordering on theft. The prosecuting attorney, Mr Dalhatu Zannah, told the court that the complainant, Mr Ayanwale Saheel of MDS Logistics Company, Idu Industrial Yard, Abuja,  reported the matter on Aug. 15 at Life Camp Police Station.

The prosecutor alleged that the accused stole the condom and hid it in the company’s warehouse before it was recovered. Stating that on Aug. 5, one Paul Marcus of the same address, caught Asaph stealing two packets of condom valued at N 3,000.

He said the condoms are the property of Society for Family Health, but kept in the custody of the company. Pointing out that such offence contravened Section 287 of the Penal Code.

Meanwhile the accused pleaded not guilty.

The case was adjourned by the presiding Judge, Mr. Abubakar Sadiq, till Sept. 5 for hearing. The accused was granted bail to the tune of N2, 000 and a surety in like sum.
