According to SaharaReporters  Mrs. Margaret Emefiele, the wife of the Central Bank Governor, Mr. Godwin Emefiele, has been abducted  by unkonwn gunmen.

The National Open University of Nigeria has approved establishment of a study centre for prison inmates in Gombe State. The development was made public by the Comptroller of Prisons in the state, Alhaji Ahmadu Adamu,  when the state Governor Ibrahim Dankwambo visited some inmates as part of activities to mark the state’s 20th anniversary on Monday. Adama stated that the approval of the study center would enable inmates who have met university admission requirements to have university education while serving their jail terms; while pointing out that NOUN also waived registration and other fees for the inmates. He also seized the moment to call on the governor to offer prisoners more opportunities to benefit from government programmes. On the flip side, the governor gave the assurance of speedy dispensation of justice in the state while also affirming his hope that the approval of the study centre would ensure that prisoners continued education while serving jail terms. Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin has expelled five students following the breach of their matriculation oath by committing various offences. Mr AbdulRahman Muhammad, the Assistant Registrar (Academic Affairs) of the polytecnic, disclosed in a statement released on Monday in Ilorin, that their expulsion ensued as a result of the approval of the report of the Students’ Disciplinary Committee and in accordance with Section 14.2 of the Students Regulations. The affected students subsumed Murthado Olanrewaju, Elebiju Rotimi, Adam AbdulAzeez, Muhammed Habeeb, and Khalid Olamilekan R. In the same light, the institution also rusticated one Olutayo Oluwatobi Elizabeth while it withheld the result of Toluwaleke Gbenga Adeniyi. Muhammad maintained that all the expelled students were to immediately vacate the school campuses  and hand over all polytechnic property in their possession to their respective HOD's.

Mr Akinwale Goodluck a former senior executive of MTN Nigeria, has come forward to set the records straight over the insinuations that Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed “stole” and “plagiarised” the recently launched “Change Begins With me” initiative are untrue. In fact, Akinwale disclosed that the “Change Begins With me” initiative was the brain child of Lai Mohammed, citing this in a letter on Sunday to online news medium Premium Times as he sought to set the records staraight over the issue. A pastor, identified as Wale Fagbere, became stock-still  and speechless while trying to demolish a shrine in Ketu, a community in Ayetoro, Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State. Report has it the cleric had recently told his congregation that he had a revelation to destroy all the shrines in Ketu community. After being found immovable in the shrine, residents of the area raised the alarm, following which custodians of the shrines came to the place attracting a crowd to the scene. An eyewitness revealed that the priests in charge of the shrine publicly maintained that the cleric would only regain his sense after some necessary rituals were performed. The rites were performed following the intervention of Alaye of Ayetoro, Oba Abdulaziz Adelakun, who appealed to the priests to ‘release’ him. Abimbola Oyeyemi,Ogun state acting Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the incident, adding that the cleric might be charged for “sacrilege and malicious damage.” In...

A yet to be identified middle-aged man has in the early hours of Friday reportedly killed himself by hanging at the Ogida area of Benin, Edo state. The corpse was found dangling from the ceiling of a sawmill in the market. Witnesses said the man was earlier seen in the area looking moody, unknown to them that he had a plan to take his life. They said cooked beans and loaves of bread, including some cloths were found beside his lifeless body. ‎ It is yet to be uncovered the actual cause of this ugly  incident or what could have forced the deceased to take his life, as he did not leave a suicide note behind. Edo State Police Command Spokesman, Theodore Okafor, who confirmed the incident, said that the corpse had been deposited in a mortuary for a possible post-mortem.‎

Arcan Cetin, 20, the suspect in the Washington state mall shooting was arrested by police on Saturday evening 30 miles from the crime scene. Cetin, Turkish-born immigrant originally from Adana, was captued near his Oak Harbor home almost 24 hours after he allegedly opened fire in the make-up department of Macy's in Burlington's Cascade Mall, killing four women and one man. The FBI office in Seattle said it had no evidence the shooting was terror-related. On the flip side, the police at a press conference on Saturday evening after the arrest of Cetin refused to 'rule out or rule in' terrorism. Images from footage showed that the suspect appeared unarmed while he made enterance into the mall. The gunman however opened fire with a rifle in the makeup section of a Macy’s department store late Friday, killing four women and a man, according to police.
