More Contoversity Hits The Biafran agitation As 8 Groups Honour Nnamdi Kanu, Recognizes Him As The Leader Of The Struggle

More contoversity emerge from the balkanization of the Biafran agitation as three groups from the Niger Delta region and five from the South-East would next month, publicly recognize the leadership of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader and director Radio Biafra Mazi Nnamdi Kanu for refusing to compromise the Biafran struggle.

The groups subsume :

  • Igbo Women Assembly
  •  Igbo Youth Movement (IYM)
  •  Igbo Students Union
  •  Igbo Traders Association
  •  South-East Christians Network
  •  Niger Delta Youth Congress
  •  Old Eastern Region Movement and
  • South-East/South-South Youth Congress.

The groups, in separate statements have also denounced the emergence of splinter groups called, TRIPOD and REIPOB that claimed to have bro- ken away from IPOB, insisting that there was no crisis in IPOB.

Announcing the public honouring of Kanu, the leader of Igbo Women Assembly, Chief (Mrs.) Mariah Okwor said the IPOB leader would be honoured for his sacrifices in defence of truth, fight for justice and deliverance from internal colonization.

Also speaking about the October event, IYM founder, Evang. Elliot Ugochukwu-Uko, said that Kanu is being honoured for his steadfastness in refusing to compromise the Biafran struggle.

He said, “All kinds of money have been promised him to abandon the struggle, but he refused to sell out unlike others before him. He chose to die for the freedom of his people from slavery.”

Speaking on the alleged split in IPOB, Ugochukwu-Uko said that those who claimed there was crisis in IPOB were the very people who were being used to create the impression of a crisis.

He said, “I don’t want to get down to the level of such shameless characters, by responding to their vomit. Ndigbo knows that IPOB is intact, why would I comment on non-existent TRIPOB and REIPOB. I don’t want to dignify fake groups with a response.

“Federal government should do the needful, which is, begin to address the foundational reasons why millions of youths have lost faith in Nigeria. Creating artificial factors will not stop the agitation. Only a restructuring of the polity will restore hope. Time is running out.”
