PDP Kick As Sheriff Now Call The Shots

Nigeria's foremost opposition party, The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), is reportedly boiling following the recent Court of Appeal judgement that declared factional national Chairman of Nigeria's foremost opposition party and former Governor of Borno State, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff the rightful National Chairman of the party. Tempers are high as political actors in PDP begins to kick.

PDP which set out in a mission to regain their stamina which was mercilessly trashed in the 2015 general elections. PDP is gunning to become witty again not just to be able to play the opposition, but for them to become capable of unseating the APC come 2019. it is also on record that the party is allegedly reaching out to other political parties who do not have presidential candidates in other for them to link up for a more robust opposition.

Sheriff The Sit-Tight Boss

Sheriff who recently received members of the party from the South West has resolved to spear-head the Next National convention before leaving office as the PDP's boss.

During the Wednesday's visit, Sheriff disclosed that he would quit office as “soon as a national convention is held and new national officers are produced.”

But those governors who are on the side of the divide - those supporting the Ahmed Makarfi-led faction are in complete variance with Sheriff's decision.

These PDP governors led by the outspoken Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, have said they would not be part of the National Convention being proposed by the National Chairman, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff. This they revealed in a statement issued on Thursday in response to Sheriff's avowed resolve.

According to Fayose who doubles as the chairman of the PDP Governors Forum, the proposed convention would be an exercise in futility.

 In his words:

“We will never be part of the convention because it is an exercise in futility.

“The case is already at the Supreme Court so we await the outcome of the case.

“I repeat, Sheriff is a general without army. Who are his governors or top political office holders?

“He is an agent of destabilisation in the PDP: he is a mole of the All Progressives Congress.”

Sheriff planted to destroy PDP?

One may begin to wonder if this is a case of 'giving a dog a bad name in other to hing it'. Or there are some elements of truth in those claims...Could it be that Sheriff is an APC man under PDP's umbrella? If yes...Now that the Appeal court has confirmed him the PDP Boss..what would become of the opposition party?

Well...These are questions that require urgent answers. And we'll leave them to those who have the right answers to give clarifications as Nigerians are keen to know what is actually going on in the polity.
