Lagos Kidnapped School Children, Teacher, Vice-principal Released; Brought Back To The School By Abductors

Most media platforms shared the news of the four kidnapped school children, a teacher and Vice- principal who were abducted from their school Lagos Junior Model College, Igbonla, Epe, Lagos State, on Thursday, October 6, when gun wielding hoodlum stormed the area whisking away the 7 victims who were later released on wednesday at an area close to the said school.

A parent source disclosed that the schoolboys, the teacher and the Vice-Principal were returned to the school viccinty by their captors. On sighting the kidnap victims in the area at about 10:30 pm, the residents promptly alerted their relatives.

The names of the victims were given as: Okonkwo Emmanuel, Isaac Adebisi, Abu and Jeremiah (pupils),  and also the English Language/Civic Education teacher, Lukman Oyerinde, and the Vice Principal, A.O. Oyesola.

While the assailants made wavering demands as ransom for their release, it was gathered that one of the parents had paid N1 million for his son's freedom; a task he undertook which he said was an uneasy one:

In his words: “I went through hell to raise the money. The kidnappers, after playing pranks with us for two days, left them not far from the school. I advise the state government to increase security in schools near waterways.” while another parent confirmed he did not pay any ransom for his child's release.

The victims were taken to hospital for medical checkups and are now re-united with their loved ones.
