Kano Ex-governor, Kwankwaso’s Residence Sealed Off By Police


Men of the Nigerian police on Tuesday sealed off the residence of  Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso former Kano State Governor,. The residence is said to be sited at Lugard Road, is a few minutes-drive away from the Kano Government House.

In the same light, Kwankwaso’s Lodge Road residence, which serves as the headquarters of Kwankwasiyya Movement, was sealed up following alleged plan by the former Governor to conduct mass wedding.

“Police did not issue permit for any mass wedding at the residence.”

“We have directed our men to seal the residence, following an intelligent report that there is plan to conduct mass wedding at the house,” the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Magaji Majia, said.


 Although intelligence has it that “the mass wedding was conducted on Monday secretly, with only the bride and groom and  next of kin in attendance, including some selected Islamic scholars”.

The Imo State Police Command, in eastern Nigeria, has confirmed the death of three persons at Akokwa community in Ideato Local Government Area on Friday. DSP Andrew Enwerem, the Police Public Relations Officer who confirmed the incident said others sustained injuries. He explained that an unidentified man, said to be from the northern part of Nigeria, had run amok and killed a girl and a woman and thereafter killed himself. He said some aggrieved youths immediately went for reprisal attacks, leading to some other persons sustaining various degrees of injuries. Enwerem said the Commissioner of Police, on receiving reports of the the incident, deployed anti-riot policemen who stopped the incident from spreading further. “Report to police showed that a yet to be identified northerner ran amok at Akokwa community and used weapons to attack and kill a girl and a woman and thereafter killed himself’’, he said.
