Abducted UNIPORT lecturer regains freedom


Dr. Reginald Ohiri, the Uniport lecturer who was kidnapped has regained his freedom on Tuesday night from the hands of his abductors.
The victim was said to have been released by his abductors after they later found out that he was not their target.
Ohiri, who is a lecturer in the Department of Biochemistry at UNIPORT, was abducted on the eve of Monday from his resident, in Aluu community, Ikwerre Local Government Area of the Rivers State.
The gunmen, who whisked Ohiri away at gunpoint Monday night, later demanded N2m ransom for his release.
It was gathered the when the abductors confirmed that Ohiri was not their target, they allegedly granted him freedom.
As at the time of filing this report, the victim was said to have reported to the Senate Block of UNIPORT to relate his freedom to the management of the institution.
Confirming the release on Wednesday, the Management of University of Port Harcourt said the lecturer have returned to his family in one piece.
