Real Madrid have fresh David De Gea approach rejected?

De Gea is still reportedly wanted by Real Madrid

Manchester United have rejected fresh attempts from Real Madrid to land goalkeeper David De Gea.

It is believed that Ed Woodward turned down the second approach in as many summers from the Bernabeu giants to land the Spanish goalkeeper.

United fended off the challenge of Real to sign Paul Pogba earlier this week and they reportedly have beaten them to another coup - by ensuring the goalkeeper will remain at Old Trafford.

Real and United fell out last summer as the £25million of De Gea to Spain fell through in the dying moments of the transfer window.

Manchester United are confident of finding a buyer for Bastian Schweinsteiger before the transfer deadline.

And they are hopeful Juan Mata will remain at Old Trafford and that Adnan Januzaj can be convinced to accept a loan deal rather than push for a permanent move away.

United are open to offers for Schweinsteiger after Jose Mourinho decided the Germany midfielder was not in his plans for next season.

The 32-year-old has not featured in any of United’s five pre-season games and has been training with the reserves since returning to Carrington following the end of Euro 2016.

Schweinsteiger, who still has two years left on the contract he signed when he arrived from Bayern Munich in a £6.6m deal last summer, could decide to stay and fight for his place.
Sunderland to sign two United defenders

Paddy McNair is set to leave United

Sunderland have agreed a fee with Manchester United for a double defender deal, according to Sky Sports.

The Black Cats will pay an initial £5million for Paddy McNair - although the fee could rise to £7m.

And they will also tie up a deal for Donald Love for around £1million.

Both players will complete their medicals in the north east on Wednesday.
United confident they have dethroned Real as transfer kings

United believe that they are now the leaders in the transfer world

Manchester United have smashed Real Madrid ’s status as the undisputed kings of the world transfer market, writes Mirror Football's David Anderson.

Club officials believe they have made a huge statement by beating the European champions to sign Paul Pogba in a world record £110million deal.

Real - who had set the last FIVE world records, including the signings of Premier League stars Cristiano Ronaldo from United and Gareth Bale from Spurs - fought hard to get Pogba from Juventus and had the cash to match the Reds' record offer.

The Old Trafford giants were still celebrating Pogba’s capture on Tuesday night, and senior sources have dismissed Real’s attempts to play down the extent of their interest.

Paul Pogba claims it was his “destiny” to return to Manchester United because his mother always told him he would come back to Old Trafford And Yeo Moriba has been proved right after her midfielder son Paul sealed his world record £90million move from Juventus four years after quitting on a Bosman.

“My mum, she says, 'Your mum’s always right’, and she was right this time, so it’s good,” said the France star, who was accompanied by his mother to Carrington on Monday to complete his transfer.

“I would say it’s destiny. First my mum told me I would come back here and I told her, ‘You never know, you’ll see’.

“For myself, as well, it’s a big challenge - just to come back to where I came from, where I grew up, where I started.

"I didn’t finish what I started here, so I think I have come here to finish it. There are no words, to be honest. There are no words to describe it."

Mourinho in fresh dig at rivals

Mourinho is aiming comments at his rivals
Jose Mourinho has launched a fresh attack on Arsene Wenger and Jurgen Klopp, claiming they are not at clubs capable of smashing the transfer world record.

Mourinho is still peeved at his rivals for criticising United's decision to splash out £90million to bring Paul Pogba back to Manchester United.

He claims spending record sums will never be an issue for either Wenger or Klopp because they do not manage "one of the top clubs."

The United boss told MUTV: "I know the discussion, I understand that, sometimes in football, things happen and the club breaks the record, but this is only possible at clubs like Man United.

"When I heard some of the comments and heard some of the managers criticising that, I don't think they ever have this problem because, to have this problem, you need to be at one of the top clubs in the world. So at Man United it can happen."
