Everton rule out Sunderland transfer for Phil Jagielka

There is no way Jags will leave" insisted Koeman at his
pre-match press conference
Ronald Koeman has told David Moyes to forget about being reunited with Phil Jagielka at Sunderland.
Everton manager Koeman insists Jagielka will not be leaving, because he needs the former England defender.
That will disappoint ex-Toffees boss Moyes, who wanted Jagielka to stiffen up the Wearsiders ' backline.
But Koeman - who sold England centre-back John Stones to Manchester City earlier this week for an initial £47.5million - said: "Jagielka is the captain of the team and we don't have a lot of centre-backs if you play with two at least.

"I like to have four good centre-backs. There is no way Jags will leave the club, if you count our centre backs."
Koeman also claimed Everton were fighting hard to keep striker Romelu Lukaku out of Chelsea 's clutches. However he knows that situation may change if the Londoners meet the £75million asking price.
"Romelu is still an Everton player, with a contract with us," he said. "The board make that final decision, but of course I want to keep all my best players.
"But I also know football, I know business, so let's wait. We have three more busy weeks and that's the most busy in football at the moment.

"The 11 players starting this Saturday may not be the 11 starting in three weeks. We have to accept that, but it's difficult."
Koeman is letting Senegal striker Oumar Niasse go, just seven goalless months after his £13.5million arrival from Lokomotiv Moscow under predecessor Roberto Martinez.
Crystal Palace, Hull, West Brom and, again, Sunderland are interested.
"He can make his transfer because, in my opinion, he's not the future and what we need in that position," he said.
