Police officers caught sleeping in their patrol car and now social media wants them fired

Two police officers who were pictured asleep in a patrol car have provoked a furious backlash on social media.

The pair were pictured snoozing behind the wheel beside the A303 road with some users calling for them to be fired.

Wiltshire Police has launched a probe into the images which are believed to have been taken in early August.

In the pictures one officer can be seen lying on a seat extended flat while the other has his head tilted.

One Facebook user wrote: “These officers are obviously traffic cops, who should be watching out for dangerous drivers, people speeding, drunk drivers and joy riders.”
