16 Local Council Education Secretaries In Enugu Fired


Enugu State Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, has sent packing all the education secretaries in 16 out of the 17 local government councils in the state.

In the same light, he fired the management of Enugu State Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency citing poor performance as the reason for the sack.

Dr. Ikechukwu Udeuhele, Commissioner for Information Enugu State who made the announcements made it  clear that a panel set up to probe the activities of Enugu State Universal Basic Education Board had recommended the sacking of education secretaries of all the local councils in the state, except that of Awgu Local Government Area, who was appointed in newly in June this year.

The dismissal of the education secretaries is expected to foster innovations and development in the basic education system in Enugu State, the commissioner added.

PDP, Ize-Iyamu jealous of my credentials – Obaseki

The candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the forthcoming governorship election in Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, dismissed allegation by the Peoples Democratic Party that he received millions of naira as salaries as the head of the state’s economy and strategy team. The PDP state Chairman, Chief Dan Orbih, had during the party’s rally in Orhionmwon on Monday accused Obaseki of allegedly deceiving the citizens with claims that he (Obaseki) worked without any remuneration under the state government. Orbih had also displayed documents, which he claimed were vouchers for payments allegedly made to the APC candidate. But Obaseki, in a statement by the Director-General (Media and Publicity) of his campaign organisation, Abass Braimah, on Wednesday described the allegations as “tissues of lies”, adding that both the PDP and its candidate were “jealous” of his credentials and selfless service to the state. Lagos reiterates zero tolerance for criminal activities

The Lagos State Government has reassured residents, especially those in the troubled communities of its ability to combat crimes in all parts of the state. The state government said it still maintained its zero tolerance for criminal acts, while urging residents to remain calm as the Rapid Response Squad of the police in the state was on top of the current security challenges being faced by the locals. They urged residents to always volunteer vital information to security agencies to enable them to promptly discharge their responsibilities. “Information gathering is an integral part of security in the environment,” the state government said.
