Gunman Who Killed Five In US Mall Shooting Arrested By Police

Arcan Cetin, 20, the suspect in the Washington state mall shooting was arrested by police on Saturday evening 30 miles from the crime scene.

Cetin, Turkish-born immigrant originally from Adana, was captued near his Oak Harbor home almost 24 hours after he allegedly opened fire in the make-up department of Macy's in Burlington's Cascade Mall, killing four women and one man.

The FBI office in Seattle said it had no evidence the shooting was terror-related. On the flip side, the police at a press conference on Saturday evening after the arrest of Cetin refused to 'rule out or rule in' terrorism.
Images from footage showed that the suspect appeared unarmed while he made enterance into the mall.


The gunman however opened fire with a rifle in the makeup section of a Macy’s department store late Friday, killing four women and a man, according to police. He later left the store on foot, triggering an intense manhunt.

A weapon was recovered at the scene of the violence, Cascade Mall in Burlington, a town of about 8,000 people some 70 miles (110 kilometers) north of Seattle. Police are working assiduously to establish a motive.
The youngest victim was named as Sarai Lara, 16, who survived cancer as a young girl. Relatives named another victim as 52-year-old Shayla Martin, who worked as a Macy’s makeup artist.

Who Cetin really is...


Authorities had initially described the suspect as a Hispanic man in his late teens or early 20s while also revealing that he was once arrested last year on charges boardering on assault.
While Cetin was born in Turkey, he is a legal permanent resident of the United States, also attended Oak Harbor High School, which is about a 30-mile drive from Burlington, and had worked at a grocery store on nearby Whidbey Island.
Pictures posted to Cetin's MySpace page show him holding what appears to be a rifle. Another appears to show a revolver


There have been unconfirmed reports the suspect shouted a woman's name multiple times just moments before opening fire, according to FOX-Q13. His ex-girlfriend who worked at the mall had quit several months ago, according to KING 5 News and was not at the mall at the time of the shooting.
Cetin is due to appear in court On Monday.
