Iyanya Onoyom Mbuk popularly known as Iyanya is a nigerian singer, recording artist, performer and songwriter who hails from Calabar in Cross River state.

He was born on October 31, 1986. The 'Kurukere' crooner who sings in both English and Efik lost His both parents in 2008. His Mother while she was alive was a headmistress while his dad was a forester.
Iyanya’s musical carier began in his local church as he was the choirmaster at the children’s section of his church when he was just 5years old. The artiste had both his Primary and Secondary Education in Calabar, Cross River State and holds a degree in Business Management from the University of Calabar.

Accoding to the music star, he reportedly went into the music industry after watching the celebrity lifestyle of Olu Maintain and 2Face Idibia and eventually shot into prominence when he won the MTN Project Fame singing competition in 2008. He became the poineer winner of the Tv reality show.
Iyanya’s name means desire and that was the name he wanted to use at the MTN project fame, but the name was rejected and he was asked to use a Nigerian name and that made him to stick to his real name Iyanya.

Iyanya believes stongly in the philosophy of team whork as he has done collabos with Don Jazzy, Flavour, Wizkid, Emma Nyra, Phyno and a host of  other Nigerian Artistes.

Pasion and hardwork has got him this far as it is on records that the award winning vocalist at some point had to sell his car to shoot the video Kukere which came out as a hit track that won him awards at the Nigerian Entertainment awards and the Headies among others.

Iyanya who just turned 30 today, Monday 31st October 2016, has officially joined the Supreme Mavin Records (SMD) with the release of a new song ‘Up 2 Sumting’ featuring Don Jazzy and Dr. Sid.

Inyanya dumped his record label, Made Men Music Group (MMMG) and officially joined Mavin after months of speculations.

Speaking on the motive behind the move, Inyanya had this to say:

“I am at a decision-making curve in my music career where I have to make the right professional and creative decisions.”

“At this point, I realised the need to put in solid structures in place to move to the next level of my career. I think I have found that professional and creative backbone in Mavin Records,” 

Be that as it may, this development doesn't seem to go down well for some of his fans who expressed their shock that Iyanya whom they were expecting to float his own record label could be joining Don Jazzy's Marvins group.

Meanwhile, Don Jazzy has expressed delight on signing Iyanya into his label as he unhesistantly took to social media earlier on Monday to welcome the 'Kurukere' hit-maker into the family.
