Man on trail launches attack, tries to stab prosecutor amid court session

Indeed was horrendous moment. A sex offender lunged at prosecutors in a courtroom in an attempt to stab them.

CCTV footage shows Joshua Harding, 35, producing a 'shank' from his sleeve before running across the Veterans Memorial Courthouse in Michigan on Tuesday.

The 35-year-old, who has since been found guilty of second-degree criminal sexual conduct, then appears to try and stab Jonathan Roth, an assistant prosecutor.

The tip of Harding, who had arrived at the court from Ingham County Jail, was then tackled to the floor and handcuffed by a group of security guards - one of which obtained facial injuries.he weapon misses the face of the Roth by centimetres as Harding is According to WLNS , the 35-year-old, who is set to be sentenced on September 21, may now face further changes for the attack.

Security policies are also being reviewed while officials try and establish how Harding got the weapon in.

Sheriff Gene Wriggelsworth stated very clearly that although the public, attorneys and the media are required to pass through metal detectors and X-Ray machines to access the court, inmates coming from the jail are not.

He added that the matter is something being investigated following the incident.
