BREAKING NEWS: House of Reps Session Turns Chaotic



The House of Representatives was thrown into a boisterious session after some lawmakers staged what looked like an attempt to suspend Abdulmumin Jibrin.

Quagmire ensued as soon as the Chairman of the House Committee on Rules and Business, Emmanuel Orker-jev, moved a motion on breach of his privilege and that of the House by the embattled former Chairman of the Appropriations Committee.

Members allowed him speech ride until he got to the point where he mentioned Jibrin’s name; that was when members of the Transparency Group started shouting “No, no, no.”

Shouts which were countered by shouts of “Dogara, Dogara” by pro-Dogara reps, who started distributing green scarves with the inscription “I stand with Dogara.

Man kills himself, two others in Imo

The Imo State Police Command, in eastern Nigeria, has confirmed the death of three persons at Akokwa community in Ideato Local Government Area on Friday. DSP Andrew Enwerem, the Police Public Relations Officer who confirmed the incident said others sustained injuries. He explained that an unidentified man, said to be from the northern part of Nigeria, had run amok and killed a girl and a woman and thereafter killed himself. He said some aggrieved youths immediately went for reprisal attacks, leading to some other persons sustaining various degrees of injuries. Enwerem said the Commissioner of Police, on receiving reports of the the incident, deployed anti-riot policemen who stopped the incident from spreading further. “Report to police showed that a yet to be identified northerner ran amok at Akokwa community and used weapons to attack and kill a girl and a woman and thereafter killed himself’’, he said.
