Man Attempted Suicide In Imo; Lay Flat On The Road To Be Crushed [Photo]

A man identified as Chidozie Anyanwu, who is a resident of owerri in Imo State was on Monday spotted lying on MCC/Uratta Road, Owerri, refusing to leave the road.

Anyanwu seemed resolute as he turned deaf ears to the pleas of fellow residents to vacat the motor ways before he is crushed to death by vehicles. In his frustration, Anyanwu maintained that he is ready to die if the standard of living in the state does not improve.

Motorists, including tricycle riders plying the said road carefully avoided him.

Anyanwu telling his experience in a brief chat with the press disclosed that he is married with three children and his mother recently passed away and still in the mortuary, adding that she had yet to be buried due to lack of money.

While saying that it was difficult for him to feed his family due to the harsh economy.

In hiw words: “My wife is a civil servant and her salary does not come as and when due. And when it comes, the bank collects all and still debits her account because of a loan she took.

''The provision shop she opened with the loan is not growing because Imo people don’t have money. People, who used to patronise the shop, are no longer coming and when she calls them, they always say there is no money.” 

He also pointed out that for the past three months, nobody had patronized his shop, adding that his children ate only once in a day.

Anyanwu finally agreed to vacat the road after some residents prevailed on him not tocommit suicide.
