[War Against Boko Haram] Buhari Is Pleased With Air Force - Abubakar


 Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar,the Chief of Air Staff,  has on Tuesday disclosed to Air Force personnel involved in the fight against Boko Haram insurgents in the North East that President Muhammadu Buhari is indeed very happy with them and appreciates their strides.

This he stated while having lunch with Air Force troops at the Yola Air Force Base as part of Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.

The Chief of Army Staff, represented by Air Vice-Marshal James Abubakar Chief of Policy and Plans, NAF headquarters, called on the troops to sustain the efforts toward bringing peace to the North East and Nigeria.

In his words, “The good work you are doing is appreciated by the commander-in-chief; he is sending his greetings to you at this festive time.

 “He commends your efforts and urges you to sustain your commitment for peace in the Northeast and Nigeria as a whole.

 “We also want to use this opportunity to thank the commander-in-chief for his support to the Nigerian Air Force.’’

The Air Officer Commanding Tactical Air Command, AVM Muhammed Mohammadu, had earlier thanked the CAS for his commitment to their welfare and for always identifying with them to boost their morale.

 “We want to pledge our support and loyalty to Nigerian Air Force and the nation,” Muhammadu said.

The Imo State Police Command, in eastern Nigeria, has confirmed the death of three persons at Akokwa community in Ideato Local Government Area on Friday. DSP Andrew Enwerem, the Police Public Relations Officer who confirmed the incident said others sustained injuries. He explained that an unidentified man, said to be from the northern part of Nigeria, had run amok and killed a girl and a woman and thereafter killed himself. He said some aggrieved youths immediately went for reprisal attacks, leading to some other persons sustaining various degrees of injuries. Enwerem said the Commissioner of Police, on receiving reports of the the incident, deployed anti-riot policemen who stopped the incident from spreading further. “Report to police showed that a yet to be identified northerner ran amok at Akokwa community and used weapons to attack and kill a girl and a woman and thereafter killed himself’’, he said.
