2016 has indeed been an eventful year globally. Its been a leap year. As it winds down today, we'll be tracking the major events that made rounds on the foreign scene. The leap year which is at it tail-end has been designated as:

The Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly, Martins Azubuike, was recently impeached by the members of the state legistlure on the grounds of Gross Misconduct and Bishop Kennedy Njoku was immediately elected as the new Speaker.

Nigerian singer  and graphic designer Adekunle Kosoko, popularly known by his stage name Adekunle Gold is leaving YBNL following the expiration of his two-year contract with the record label. It was gathered  that this development is not unique to the ''Sade'' crooner as Viktoh and Chinko Ekun are also leaving the label following the termination of their two-year recording and management contract each.

It all happened in a Lagos hospital where an auxiliary nurse, whose name is Oyekanmi, was nabbed by operatives of the Nigerian police force for her involvement in the death of a baby she took delivery of in the Odogunyan, Ikorodu area of Lagos State. It was gathered that the victim’s mother, Adeola, had been taken to Oyekanmi’s residence last Saturday when she went into labour. While attempting to force the delivery after somplications ensued, Oyekanmi,was said to have pulled off the baby’s hand.

Everybody deserves to be happy. Happiness is completely essential for the optimal perfomance of an individual, organisations or successful group of teamplayers. While it is a fact that there is enough advice on happiness floating around out there to make your head spin. Yet, this is understandable, as everyone is different. What makes one person happy might make another miserable.

All media platforms are buzzing with rumours that singer Jennifer Lopez aka J-Lo and Drake are dating as a loved up photo of the duo recently surfaced online. The snap shot is pointing to a palpable fact and a lot of comments keeps rolling-in from their fans all over the globe. J-Lo, 47, and Drake, 30, have both shared a photo of them looking very loved up. The duo are snuggled together on the sofa looking very much like a couple.

Deraa Blossom's blog (DBB) over the past few months has garnered a vast readership comprising of amazing people from all over the globe with the United states of America, Germany and Nigeria taking the lead among many others. On the 28th Day of December 2016, DBB clocked five months old and its been an amazing experience.

We are getting closer to the tail-end of 2016 and 2017 is already billing to take over the batton. Its become a norm that whenever the end of the year draws closer, many of us begin to come up with goals that we want to achieve the following year. Some call them New Year's resolutions, others faith goals. Whatever we call them, we set them and we want to set them in such a way that they will actually happen. Goal-setting is nothing short of godly. When we set goals we actually honour God and set ourselves up to live in a way that honours Him more.

An unfortunate tragedy recently ensued in Ghana where an irate man brutally murdered his own wife on Christmas day. The 45-year-old Ghanaian man  slaughtered his wife to death with a cutlass. 

The Port Harcourt Shopping Mall was yesterday overcrowded as people struggled to make their way in and out inspite of the full blown economic recession as it were. The mall was fully packed as fun loving folks turned-up in their numbers to mark the Christmas celebration with their families and loved ones.

The popular kano-born 19 year-old girl Rahma Haruna who lived all her life within a bowl; being carried about has passed on. According to a family member, the disabled teenager died on 25th December 2016 after a brief illness. A facebook user with handle Shamsuddeen Lukman Abubakar posted an 'RIP' for the deceased on the social media platform.

Successful research reports on the role of red meat in a healthy diet has been released, doctors and scientists have begun to caution consumers that eating too much red meat can lead to serious health problems.

What many may call ' serial killing'  was recently witnessed in Zaria on December 23, where a mobile policeman attached to a Zenith Bank went gaga, killing his colleague and shooting six people who were on ATM queue, including a freshman student who recently gained admission into Umaru Musa Yar'Adua University.

Ex-president Olusegun Obasanjo recently dazed some airline passengers at the Murtala Muhammed Airport Lagos when he boarded an aircraft which is headed to Enugu with an economy ticket. Chief Obasanjo was headed for the South-East Economic and Security Summit‎ slated to hold in the coal city state, but was unable to secure a business class ticket because all seats were already booked.

Medical reports has shown that the deceased corps member, Late Ifedolapo Oladepo, who passed on at the 2016 Batch ‘B’ Kano orientation camp for National Youth Service Corps members, suffered renal sepsis which was as a result of infection. Doctor's report revealed that the deceased “had kidney infection, probably due to untreated urinary tract infection.”
