Celebrity Lawmaker, Dino Melaye Fingers Nigeria's Youngest Governor As The The Mastermind Behind His Assassination Attempt


Dino Melaye is the senator representing Kogi West, who is known to be a very outspoken lawmaker won't stop making headlines; If not about his babymama, his expensive automobiles cum ritzy lifestyle or certificate scandal, then it could be about his 'firm stance' on burning national issues.

In the week that was, the lawmaker narrowly escaped death in his home state, Kogi. According to reports some assailants invaded Melaye’s home at Ayetoro-Gbede, Ijumu local government area of Kogi State, shooting sporadically.

Melaye believes Kogi Governor, Yahaya Bello plotted the assassination attempt on his life for which he had already gone for a thanksgiving service.The Senator voiced his displeasure in the fact that the state chief executive did not utter a word concerning his attack. The lawmaker differs with the Governor on many grounds but the most profound one being his fighting for the state’s workers and pensioners' welfare.

“It is outrageous and high sense of disbelief that four days after the attempt on his life, the Kogi State governor, the Chief Security Officer of the State, has neither called nor visited to know the state of affairs with him as a serving Senator from Kogi State. The Governor’s deafening silence speaks volumes.” the lawmaker lamented through his media aide.

“No amount of threat, blackmail, name-calling and harassment will stop him from being the voice of the voiceless and the mouthpiece of the common man''. He concluded.

Governor Bello Finally Speaks

The youngest Governor in Nigeria finally breaks his silence and has reacted to Melaye's heavy allegation. Speaking through his Director -General, Media and Publicity, Kingsley Fanwo, Governor Bello said he did not believe Melaye could make such a statement adding that the senator’s supporters, who he described as “largely ignorant about security matters,” might be the ones behind the allegations.

The 41-year Governor however asserts that “Senator Melaye understands the implications of making such weighty allegations and would not try it.” The Kogi State Police Command recently revealed it had arrested seven persons in connection with the assassination attempt on the senator at his hometown Aiyetoro-Gbede last Saturday.

A security operative source disclosed that a black Jeep suspected to have been used during the operation has been found. The vehicle was discovered alongside a cache of ammunition at the Odokoro home of the administrator of Ijumu local government area of the state, Taofiq Isa, by the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID).

The source also added that the suspects were arrested at different locations, while the black jeep and the ammunition have been impounded by the state police command.

My pastor forced me to sell stolen car –Suspect

The Lagos State Police Command has apprehended a car-theft and robbery suspect, Olawale Olabinwonu, while attempting to sell a stolen vehicle. Olabinwonu, an administrative officer of the Cherubim and Seraphim Church, Igbogbo, Ikorodu, was arrested by operatives of the Rapid Response Squad while trying to sell a Nissan Sentra, 2015 model. The vehicle, whose number plate was changed, had been placed on an online shopping platform, where it was advertised for sale. Police investigators had, on seeing the advert, called the contact on the website to indicate interest. A man, who took custody of the car where it was parked in the Lekki area of the state, was said to have been arrested. The suspect, however, denied ownership of the car and subsequently led detectives to Olabinwonu’s residence. Olabinwonu was reported to have packed out of the house with his family after sensing danger. He was, however, tracked to a church in the area where he was arrested.
